Google Apple Merger?

I thought Google’s choice of name/branding for their personalised home pages was interesting - iGoogle. We already have iPod, iPhone, iTunes et al. Google and Apple have been quite cosy of late, what with Google CEO Dr. Eric Schmidt Joining Apple’s Board of Directors last year. So what are they planning behind the scenes? A Google-Apple merger? Google to buy Apple? Apple as the Hardware arm of an even bigger Google empire? Just a thought. Let me know your thoughts. Would such a merger be healthy?

  1. Would make Microsoft a little nervous. I can see the benefits for Google, but can’t see how it would add real value to Apple’s core business. But I guess that Google has the cash. Can’t see it happening while Jobs is about.

  2. Tis very suspicious, isn’t it?I wouldn’t think that Apple would quietly allow Google to use the “i” trademark, so it leads one to believe that there is some plan to merge the two companies. But why aren’t they saying so? Are they floating out a trial balloon to gauge reaction? I don’t think that all these large corporate mergers are a good thing, but it is the way things go now; no successfull small company stays on its own for long. Love the Google/Apple logo, btw!

  3. Thank you, Sharon. Yes it is awfully suspicious isn’t it. But why is no-one talking about it? When I first saw the iGoogle logo, Apple was the first thing to come to mind - Apple owns that letter of the alphabet now, it seems.
