He clicked, he scrolled, he wept

Every now and then I come across a web site, that almost brings tears to my eyes. Tears of joy, that is. I was over at CSS Beauty and found a link to Jesus Rodriguez Velasco’s web site, designed by Miguel Ripoll, and I wept.

Jesus Rodriguez Velasco

May not be to everyone’s taste, but this site I love with a 72 point “L”.

Do you have a site that elicits the same emotions?

  1. Well this band called Family Force 5 used to have this crazy website that I was just in awe of, though I don’t know anything about the band itself. But apparently they switched to a MySpace page… I’m REALLY disappointed. I just saw it about 2 weeks ago and bookmarked it; checked it today and it’s gone. But maybe they were just getting too many hits? I linked it anyway; maybe they will put it back up again. I hope!

Tokyo Plastic all about Flash, but you have probably never seen anything like it! The best part in my opinion is Drum Machine; it has really captivating music. From the main page, click on Tokyo Plastic v2, then whenever it seems like things have stalled, try clicking either on a red dot or on the text. Once the weird black plant/tree comes on screen, click on the Drum Machine flower (English is in the upper left corner). Watch all the animations and then when it “stalls” again, click on the text. You’ll have to click around more to see all the neat stuff. Watch their archive animations, too. Have fun!

I know Tokyo Plastic. I’m usually too impatient for Flash sites, but I do like the animation and sound effects on the site - it’s like watching a short animated film - very entertaining. If you like Tokyo Plastic, you might like Mashimaro hailing from South Korean (you can watch the episodes from the menu on the left).

    Mashimaro

I thought that the old Family Force 5 web site you mentioned (I’ve never seen it) might have been cached by Google - but to no avail. The present MySpace one is dreadful (I can usually tolerate a MySpace page for a maximum 3 seconds before I start to go into convulsions ;) I hate all that illegible scrolling content over a fixed background - ahhhhhhhhhhhh! Let’s hope they bring back their old site.

  3. Found another one, from Croatia this time. It may not make you cry with awe like Miguel Ripoll’s work, but it’s sure funny. Make sure to roll over the main menu animations :D Web.burza Super Hero Edition!

I am still not sure what to think about Sandstrom Design. Their copy is rather hilarious (and you should see their business cards), but would you want your clients seeing it??

I really like the Sandstrom Design site (looks as though it(s been around for some time). It’s a good concept, though might frustrate some, I guess. Thanks for the link.
The business card is great too.

  5. it’s a shame all content is spanish (for english peeps), i would so love to follow that blog on a regular basis. awesome — such an inspiration. the L indeed is blasting!

    thanks for mentioning it!
