Typeface: Plantagenet Novus

I’ve always liked the Plantagenet typeface, so I was pleased to read that:

Plantagenet Novus is a completely revised OpenType edition of Ross Mills’ 1996 Plantagenet typeface. The original face is being redesigned and expanded with an extensive typographic repertoire and multilingual character sets to enable the refined setting of scholarly materials in a wide range of languages.

If you’d like a sneak preview of what’s new, then download the Plantagenet Novus specimen pdf over at Adobe. This one’s on my shopping list.

looks like the child of Georgia and Baskerville ;)

  2. Thanks Typeman
There’s definitely a nod to Baskerville; not sure about Georgia though–I guess it’s not dissimilar.

  3. I see a bit of Garamond, no? In the cupped serif styling. I really like those more organic typefaces, they have a beautiful simplicity and complexity of intimate detail all at the same time.

  4. I don’t see much Garamond–perhaps in the overall form. Plantagenet is a little more voluptuous. Baskerville is definitely her closest relative; her older sister if you like. Perhaps Garamond is an old uncle, and Georgia an aunt.
