Green Architecture

I like this Green Skyscraper concept by Australian architect Andrew Maynard for the Sony Tower in China. What caught my eye was the overall profile and the inclusion of wind turbines. I especially like the wind turbine within the main structure. I wonder why this isn't seen more often? We decided to design a tower and then hit it with a wall of sound. Through computer modeling we manipulated a simple tower buy hitting it with the sound "SONY" to create the kinetic form that is Sony Tower. Not completely sure how they did that, but none the less and interesting idea. ... [more]

Friendly Fire Exhibition

The inimitable graphic designer (aka type-god) Jonathan Barnbrook will hold his Friendly Fire UK exhibition at the Design Museum (June 15 to October 10), and will be a great opportunity to see the development of his work, especially in experimental typography. If you've been in a coma for the last decade (the only plausible excuse for not having seen his work), then take a trip, via a click, to his studio's website. Patty’s Mama Brush Works

I recently bought this beautiful cup, saucer and milk jug set from Patty's Mama. The owner, Yasuko Matsuoka, is an artist and collector, with some wonderful vintage Susie Cooper pieces. You can learn more about her work, studio and shop from this link (Japanese only); if you're Japanese isn't too hot, and you'd like to learn more, then click here and leave me a message, which I will pass on to Yasuko-san. Susie Cooper Crown Works I love the uncomplicated design of these pieces, especially, the detailing around the rims. Mrs Matsuoka is also taking her talent to Shanghai in May/June. She'll ... [more]

sub-studio

I recently came across the wonderful sub-studio haling from New York. I bought this screen print which I fell for at first site. And now that it's hanging on my wall, I'm even happier with it. You can find the sub-studio shop on Etsy. The prices are reasonable, and the service is personal - a 10/10 experience. And the screen-print framed at home! [more]
