Smashing Magazine has compiled another one of it's great "Best Of..." lists. This time it's 45 Excellent Blog Designs. And, as usual it's a great source of inspiration. A couple of my favourites are in there, including Shaun Inman's. If Blogs could be eaten, then you'd want his for dinner. Wonderful use of white (orange in his case) or negative space, perfect layout, great typography, and attention to even the smallest of details.
This Smashing Magazine Post is definitely one to Bookmark.

When I come across something on-line that really grabs my attention, I make a note of it with Google Notebook -- I almost feel embarrassed to "promote" a Google product, but it really has helped me to keep track of and organise my web likes.
I began using it after one day scrolling through -- for what seemed like an eternity -- my Bookmarks; kind of defeated the whole purpose. My bookmarks list had become so big, that even after adding a few more folders, taking out the trash and reorganising, it was still too big and cumbersome to be of ... [more]

Every now and then I come across a web site, that almost brings tears to my eyes. Tears of joy, that is. I was over at CSS Beauty and found a link to Jesus Rodriguez Velasco's web site, designed by Miguel Ripoll, and I wept.

Do you have a site that elicits the same emotions? [more]

I have discovered a wonderful resource in DynamicGraphics.com. How I didn't stumble across it before, I will never know. Anyway, if you're after some inspiration, tips about typography, web design, graphic design, how to save your marriage, then get over to their site (the last in the list is hyperbole - I got a little excited). I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the articles; they appear very well-researched, and offer some invaluable tips. There's a lot of dross out there when it comes to "design tips", but this site is, from what I can see, 100% dross-less. If ... [more]

Warning: before you take a look at this guy's work [Peter Jaworowski], wrap a thick rubber band around your head (over the head and under the lower jaw) - it will prevent damage to your chin when your jaw hits the floor.
Note: Since writing this post, Peter's site has been redesigned. [June 29, 2007] [more]

I'm usually against the use of Flash, especially if the designer doesn't offer a non-Flash version. However, the Paul and Joe site looks pretty good, and I love those Flash-animated birds (now, why didn't I think of that...). To see the Flash-animated birds, just select a language - French or English. One thing I really hate, is that 1990's opening the Flash movie in another window without all the controls - now, why do they do that??
